I started by watching both the videos and the first was Dan Pink's. I'm particularly sure if I have felt or been apart of a situation like the candle problem such that Dan described. I've only worked for about a month during my life which I think would help me to connect more with his argument. However the sponsors and experiments that he used in his evidence did seem plausible. I did understand the left right brain analogy, mainly because I watched his part 1 interview with Oprah by accident. But I just wanted Dan to use an example that people could connect with in their non working lives. For example he talked about doing whatever you want for a certain amount of time. When I'm working on something in my free time I am much more productive. This is something I thought he would touch on, peoples' free time tasks or hobbies. I think his point goes much deeper than just the work place or the classroom. He never says why the incentive narrows the focus of the task-doer and why that halts creativity and results in a slower task finish. And at the end of the day I could only take his word. One thing that I really trusted about the evidence was the 20% time.
During the next video, I connected much better to the argument presented by Mike Wasch. However the point he makes about how media uses me didn't really get across to me cause I'm not really totally involved with social networks and stuff but I'm sure I have been I just cant recall right now. But I have seen how society changes with new media. His point about the advantages and disadvantages of media are quite understandable and my opinion is that its not media's fault its human faults that make media have both advantages an disadvantages. My point is supported by him saying that he wants to make students knowledge-able, which means by using these new medias effectively they can achieve more of the good and less of the bad that come from media. "what we make of it". Mike then uses his class as more of a media effective learning environment and makes it relevant to the world and the students and uses media to spread the knowledge.
